WID National Scholar

Through the WID Scholar program, previously HORIZONS, Women In Defense encourages individuals to pursue careers supporting U.S. national security with a focus on defense or foreign policy. Awards are based on academic achievement, participation in defense and national security activities, field of study, work experience, statements of interest, recommendations, and financial need. Recipients must report periodically on the impact of the awards on their personal and professional lives.

WIDSC established the Space Coast STEM Scholarship Fund in 2013 to encourage women in Florida to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related to the national security and defense interests of the United States. Since its inception, WlDSC has awarded over $92,000 in scholarships and contributed to numerous STEM-related events in partnership with local businesses, non-profits, and Federal agencies such as U.S. Space Force.

The WIDSC Scholarship awards vary from $250.00 to $2,000.00 for deserving
Brevard County students seeking to further their education in STEM studies with an interest in starting and furthering a career that supports U.S. defense and national security. Awards are based on academic achievement, field of study, defense and national security activities, statements of interest, and recommendations.
